The Spotify Premium free trial lets people who have not tried Premium before listen ad-free for a month before the first charge. If you do nothing, the plan renews at the paid price, so the sensible approach is to know the price, set a reminder and decide before the trial ends. This page explains how the Spotify Premium free trial works in the UK, what it costs afterwards and the catches to check.

How the Spotify Premium free trial works
At the time we checked, Spotify’s UK Premium page advertised “1 month for £0” on Premium Individual, with the price after the trial shown as £12.99 a month. There is also a Student plan advertised at £0 for 4 months, then £5.99 a month. Spotify says all plans can be cancelled anytime. The trial is for new Premium users, and it is not offered again if you have tried Premium before.

- Student: £5.99 a month after the free period, with verification of your student status.

Is the Spotify Premium free trial worth it?
It is worth it if you will listen enough in the month to justify the price, and you set a reminder to decide in time. It is not worth it if you only want it for one afternoon. Compare the monthly price with what you already pay for music, and use the yearly subscription cost guide to see what it comes to over a year.
