Is the Lakeland Dry:Soon 3-Tier Heated Airer worth buying in 2026?

Two loads of washing, dry without a tumble dryer.

The Lakeland Dry:Soon 3-Tier is worth considering if you have no tumble dryer, or want to use one less. It holds up to 15kg of wet washing on 21 metres of heated bars and uses 300W. It is not fast: without a cover, a full load can take most of a day.

The 30-second verdict

A heated airer is a low-power way to dry clothes indoors. This is the best-known one in the UK: three tiers, room for about two wash loads, and it folds to 8cm deep for storage. It is gentler on clothes than a tumble dryer. It is slower, though, and it works much better with a cover, which is sold separately in most bundles.

What actually matters

Buy or improvise a cover

A cover traps the warm air and cuts drying time a lot. Without one, the bars only warm the fabric touching them.

Where the water goes

The water leaves your clothes and goes into the room. Ventilate, or pair it with a dehumidifier, to avoid condensation.

The drawbacks

  • It is slow compared with a tumble dryer.
  • Open, it takes up about as much floor space as a small table.
  • Thick items such as towels and jeans need turning.

Heated airer or dehumidifier for drying clothes?

A heated airer warms the clothes. A dehumidifier removes the moisture from the air. Used together in a closed room they dry washing faster than either alone.

Buying it on Black Friday 2026

Heated airers have sold out in past winters. Lakeland sells several versions and bundles (with or without cover, standard or deluxe), so check which one a price refers to. Questions people ask

How much does a heated airer cost to run?

It uses 300W. Multiply 0.3 by your unit price per kWh to get the cost per hour.

How long does it take to dry clothes?

It varies with the load and the room. Expect several hours, and less with a cover.

Does it come with a cover?

Not always. Some bundles include one and some do not. Check the listing.

Will it cause damp?

The moisture goes into the room, so open a window slightly or run a dehumidifier.
