To cancel Netflix, go to the Manage your membership page, sign in and choose Cancel, then Finish Cancellation. This guide shows how to cancel Netflix in the UK, what happens afterwards, and the mistake that leaves people still paying: signing out or deleting the app does not cancel anything.

How to cancel Netflix
- Go to the Manage your membership page and sign in if asked.
- Choose Cancel.
- Under Cancel, choose Finish Cancellation.
- Look for the confirmation email Netflix sends to your account address, and keep it.
The steps are the same on the website and in the app, according to Netflix.
Signing out does not cancel Netflix
Netflix says signing out, or deleting the app, does not cancel your account. It says the cancel option in your membership settings is the only way to cancel and end your membership. If you stop watching but do not cancel, you keep being charged.
What happens after you cancel Netflix
- You can keep watching to the end of the period. Netflix says that if you cancel with time left in your billing period, you can use Netflix until the account cancels automatically at the end of that period.
- No more charges. Netflix says you will not be charged again unless you restart your account.
- You can come back. You can restart any time. Netflix says it keeps your viewing activity, recommendations, ratings and account details for 24 months after the account closes.
If someone else could restart your account
Netflix suggests changing your password and ticking the box to sign out of all devices, so people in your household cannot restart the account by accident.
If you pay through a phone, broadband or TV provider
If you cannot see a cancel option in your Netflix account, Netflix says you need to cancel with the company that bills you. Check the Membership section of your account page for who that is.
Will I get a refund?
Netflix’s cancellation page did not state a refund policy, so check the terms for your own situation before you cancel.
