Are the Oral-B iO3 Duo Electric Toothbrushes worth buying in 2026?

Two iO toothbrushes in one box.

The Oral-B iO3 Duo is worth considering for couples or as a gift: you get two iO handles in one pack. Each has a pressure sensor that shows when you are brushing too hard or too softly, a two-minute timer and three cleaning modes. iO brush heads cost more than standard Oral-B heads.

The 30-second verdict

The iO3 is the entry point to Oral-B's iO range, which uses a quieter magnetic drive than its older brushes. The key feature is the pressure sensor, which uses a light to show when the pressure is right. It skips the app and screens of the pricier iO models, which most people do not use anyway. Factor in the cost of iO replacement heads.

What actually matters

The pressure sensor is the useful feature

Brushing too hard is a common cause of gum damage. A sensor that shows the right pressure helps more than extra modes.

Head costs add up

iO heads only fit iO handles and cost more than Oral-B's older heads. Dentists generally advise a new head every three months.

The drawbacks

  • iO replacement heads are more expensive.
  • No app, display or travel case at this level.
  • Two handles share the charger supplied, so check what is in the box.

iO3 or a higher iO model?

Higher models (iO5 and up) add more modes, app coaching and displays. The cleaning technology in the handle is the same family. The iO3 keeps the parts that matter.

Buying it on Black Friday 2026

Electric toothbrushes are among the most heavily promoted Black Friday products. Twin packs can work out cheaper per handle than buying one. Black Friday is on Friday 27 November 2026. We do not list prices here because they change by the hour. See our Black Friday checklist.
