TopCashback is a UK cashback site: you click through to a shop from the site, buy as normal and get part of the retailer’s commission back as cashback. How TopCashback works
TopCashback says that when you buy from a retailer on its site after clicking through, the retailer pays TopCashback a commission, and it shares that commission with you. It describes itself as the UK’s leading cashback site, with over 5,500 partner retailers.
What does TopCashback cost?
- Classic account: TopCashback says it is completely free to join and there are no charges at all.
- Plus account: costs £5 a year, taken from your earnings, and includes extra benefits.
We did not see a welcome bonus for new members on the page we read, so do not join expecting one.
How you get paid
- TopCashback says there is no minimum payout.
- You can withdraw in more than 60 ways, including to a bank account, PayPal or as a gift card, which can include a bonus of up to 20%.
- Cashback should appear on your Earnings page within 7 days of your purchase, but you cannot withdraw it straight away. It becomes payable after the retailer’s returns period ends and payment is confirmed.
The catches with TopCashback
- It is not instant. You wait for the retailer to confirm the purchase.
- You must click through first. A purchase made without going through the site may not track.
- Retailer terms apply. Rates and exclusions vary and can change, so check the shop’s page on TopCashback before you buy.
- Returns can cancel cashback. If you return the item you may lose the cashback.
- Plus costs money. Make sure you really want it before choosing it.
How to use TopCashback without losing cashback
- Join with a Classic account unless you have worked out that Plus pays for itself.
- Click through from TopCashback to the shop before you add anything to the basket.
- Check the cashback rate and exclusions on the shop’s page.
- Keep your order confirmation until the cashback is paid.
Who is TopCashback good for?
It suits people who already buy online, such as groceries, travel or gifts, and who are happy to click through first. It does not suit impulse buyers, because cashback is not a reason to spend.
