Is the Shark CarpetXpert Deep Clean Carpet Cleaner worth buying in 2026?

Wash your carpets instead of hiring a machine.

The Shark CarpetXpert (EX150UK) is worth considering if you have carpets, pets or children and would otherwise hire a machine or pay for a clean. It sprays cleaning solution, scrubs and sucks the dirty water back out, and has a built-in hose for stains. It is a large machine to store and you need to keep buying solution.

The 30-second verdict

A carpet washer does what a vacuum cannot: it washes the fibres and pulls out dirty water. Owning one makes sense if you would use it several times a year, which is likely with pets, young children or pale carpets. The built-in stain tool is useful for stairs and spills. If you have one rug and no pets, hiring occasionally is cheaper.

It was one of the best-selling products in its category on Amazon UK when we checked, on 11 October 2026. We have not tested it ourselves. This guide is based on the manufacturer's specifications and buyer demand. How we choose.

What actually matters

Drying time is the real test

Strong suction matters because it pulls water back out. The less water left behind, the faster the carpet dries.

Running costs

You will need to buy cleaning solution. Shark recommends its own formula, so factor that in.

The drawbacks

  • It is bulky and needs cupboard space.
  • Tanks need filling and emptying several times for a whole house.
  • Carpets stay damp for a while afterwards, so plan around it.

Buy a carpet cleaner or hire one?

Hiring suits a once-a-year deep clean. Owning suits households that deal with regular spills and pet accidents, because you can clean a stain the day it happens.

Buying it on Black Friday 2026

Carpet cleaners sell strongly before Christmas, when people clean ahead of having guests. Check whether solution is included in the box, as that changes the value. Black Friday is on Friday 27 November 2026. We do not list prices here because they change by the hour. See our Black Friday checklist.

Do I have to use Shark's cleaning solution?
